NEW MUSIC:: Jay-Z & SANTOGOLD

It looks like the greatest rapper alive has finally realized what most of us figured out a few years ago, mainstream Hip-Hop is a waist land of redundancy.  It appears that in the land of rap it is now, and always will be, "peanut butter jelly time".  All true rappers (as pretentious as that sounds) have retreated to the hills and regrouped as "Alternative" Hip-Hoppers.  In this i-pod era, people don't listen to just one genre any more.  And like any consumer with a discerning ear, "heads" have turned to independent media to learn about the true hotness (see Santogold, M.I.A., Cool Kids, Lupe, Littel Brother, etc.) thus giving performers with the desire to do more the freedom to do so.  No longer do artists need to bow down to the giant known as TRL (for it has fallen, haven't you heard?).

After the release of his remix of M.I.A.'s "Boys", Jay-Z has invited Santogold to guest on "Brooklyn Go Hard", a Kanye produced banger reminiscent of classic Hova.  It'll be featured on the upcoming soundtrack NOTORIOUS, the Biggie biopic coming out January 16, 2009.  Maybe Chris Wallace's ghost paid him a visit in the studio.  Let's hope he stays.
