What is a Rock 'n Roll icon to do when his band goes on permanent hiatus? Not to mention paratly your fault. But, that's neither here nor there in the world of the Gallagher brothers when making hits in Oasis has always been overshadowed to tabloid drama. Regardless of the details, Liam Gallagher has viewed his new freedom as a window of opportunity to trade in music for fashion with the 2009 European launch of
Pretty Green. Not to be mistaken for a cheap means by which to capitalize on fame with his adoring fans. Pretty Green is quite the opposite. High end threads on the cutting edge of design and quality, not for the target (or Macy's for that matter) consumer, Liam has proven his taste is well beyond casual. Velvet jackets, double breasted trench coats, v-neck cardigans made of sea island cotton, and polka-dot gent scarves made in Italy recall mod high end style from the swingin' 60's when the U.K. was considered to be the fashion capitol of the world. A few items may bring Austin Powers to mind but it's safe to say that the garments have been updated to prevent a committing a fauxpa. Pretty Green has hit American soil for the first time this past April with the launch of the Spring 2010 line. Selections range from signature Tees in black, sky blue, green, and pink ($90), Navy corduroy blazers ($780), a camouflage parka ($960), and Lennon hats ($150). For those not interested in playing it safe, the pink paisley scarf will earn you high peacocking points next time you are seeking attention.
Why fashion? Especially since Gallagher is reportedly not interested in sitting front row during fashion week. One thing is for sure, interviews from the past 15 + years have proven his tongue is sharp enough to go one-on-one with even the most over privileged super model. With Oasis gone (for the time being)
Beady Eye is born, a new band with material in the works. What, did you expect the man who was recently dubbed "Greatest Frontman Of All Time" by Q Magazine to humbly pass the torch? Then obviously you aren't familiar with Oasis. For those that are, it's obvious the Beatles have been a massive influence on the Gallaghers. This past Cannes Film Festival, Liam announced he will head up production on a new Beatles movie based on the book,
The Longest Cocktail Party.
