Bass, Womp, and a little bit of Rock & Roll? It is not quite the standard to start mosh pitting in the center of thousands of Electronic Music Fans. But the unexpected is what’s to be expected when it comes to a man we call Bassnectar. Unique paths into music production have led him to the massive following of music lovers that surround him today. His latest album, Divergent Spectrum, is an eclectic amalgamation of tunes that though seem worlds apart, somehow come together in perfect Bassnectar harmony. “Upside Down” is the first released single off the album. The Dubstep track stays true to his style with its tempo variation and multiple techniques of composition. A stand out track, “Plugged In”, gives more of a Drum & Bass sound. It is songs like “Immigraniada” that stray from the typical sounds of Electro music and venture into the world of heavy metal. Later we head into “Parade in to Centuries”, which slows the album down a little, offering a more relaxed sound. All in all, the album is one I cannot stop listening to and am yearning to hear live. His talent seems to be never ending, his music always growing. Divergent Spectrum is an album to pick up and listen to, and certainty wait and watch for a chance to catch live!
