Fade into the trance that is Excision’s new album, X Rated. Filled with catchy beats and unexpected sounds, Excision’s brand new album reminds us why he is held as one of the most unique Dubstep artists in the EDM business. First becoming known in 2007 with his single “No Escape”, the Canadian born Excision has come up to the top of the ranks and is now touring world wide. The ten-track album released with Mau5trap, Deadmau5’s label that is also home to Skrillex and Feed Me, comes complete with collaborations with fellow Dubstepers like Downlink, Messinian, Datsik, Skism, and Savvy. X Rated is down right dirty, heavy hitting, and all we can expect and more from Excision.

From the very beginning to the very end, X Rated reminds us listeners of the high expectations we can place on big EDM names. One of the major promoters of Dubstep in the North America, Excision continues to bring new interpretations of the term Dubstep. The album begins with title track “X Rated“, a bass heavy track that will do like it says, “accelerate the heart”. From there, the album takes a very different turn with a very Trance inspired track called “Underground”, a collaboration with Downlink. As “Ohhh Nooo” speeds the tempo up a bit, so quickly does Excision and Savvy slow it down with “Sleepless”. “8 Bit Superhero” includes some Drum and Bass inspired sounds that really give the track some extra voltage. Excision takes the second half of the album to even greater creative lengths with the heavy metal sounds in “Execute”. The bass only gets bigger and drums louder as Excision takes us through “Sexism” and “Swerve”. Finishing out the album, X Rated goes back to the more Trance like sounds that are never empty of what we know to be Excision.

Finishing out his American tour in late 2011, Excision has continued to cross the country hitting big festivals and shows all over. His display of exceptional talent and innovation continue to impress the world of EDM, as his fan base continues to grow to big numbers. His progressiveness and creative ability are all present in his newest album X Rated.
