Similar to Electornic music, Reggae has always been a subgenre that has been popular amongst the college crowds and packed festivals in the United States.  Not to mention, Drum n Bass and Dubstep both have roots in Reggae and Dub style production, so don't be surprised by our profiling of the new album by Collie Buddz.  The Bermudian singer has been a staple of the scene since dropping the massive hit "Come Around" in 2007 and has since built a solid catalogue of Roots & Culture style tracks that have kept him touring successsfully this winter.  He recently released his latest album, Playback, which is a free download on his site.  Download, sit back and spark a fat one!

He might be “blind to you haters”, but our eyes were wide open and dead set on the Reggae sensation that is Collie Buddz, January 21 at 9:30 Club in DC. The sold out show opened with Zion I performing. From suit wearing after work people, to girls in their highest heels, Rasta dreads, and Hippies, the crowd spoke clear of the wide expanse Collie Buddz music hits.    At 11:30 PM a live band of guitar, bass, keyboard, and drums came into light as the MC introduced himself and then the band with “out in the streets they calling murder!” After a short rendition of Adele from the back up singer called Lady Alexis, Collie Buddz came jumping on the stage out of nowhere with a huge burst of excitement  from the fans pushing up to the stage. In sunglasses and a tie, Collie Buddz kicked off his set with style. Singing “Young Girl Waving Hands” and demanding lighters be put up.  For “Come Around” he displayed his already well known talent in music and proved himself as a performer. “Blind to You” closed out the show but left no patron anything but wide-eyed. Collie Buddz live performance spoke to the true nature of music, instrumentation, lyrics, and just some good old Reggae funk.
