REVIEW
FS
Half Android - EP

“Stunts call me honey, they feel real hot.”  Honey he may as well be, with the super sweet sounds dripping off the newest album, Half Android, from producer, composer, and musician, FS. But nothing is as hot as the funky bass beats that flow through every track. Combining his musicianship and production skills, the master behind the mixing succeeds to the highest degree in his own process of half programming and half live instruments. His masterful skills are joined on the album with guest contributions from Rahzel (formerly of The Roots), Calvertron, Patriarch, Reid Speed, and Nepoleon Solo. Traveling the world to the biggest festivals in music and testing musical boundaries along the way, the Brooklyn based FS brings experience and experimentation to his latest listen.

FS- HALF ANDROID- ALBUM OUT FEB 20 by Play Me Records

“Lasers and Bass” is definitely the way to open the album, which stretches the capacities of electronic music by blending highly technical computerized sounds with live samples and self-made instrumentals. This first track off the album surely does that, beginning with heavy bass and soothing electro sounds reminiscent of Pretty Lights, then leading to broken down freestyle hip hop over live music. “Swing Joint” and “iLLest Android” are the heaviest bass tracks on the album. “Silent Weapon For a Quiet War” is anything but silent or quiet and takes the album the Drum and Bass route, picking up tempo through the middle of the track and picking up adrenaline through the middle of the album. From that point forward the album brings listeners back around to the big bass beats of the album's earlier tracks and closes out with “Yup”, a trip back to the funky stylings we heard in the first song. The album's intricately constructed tunes feature FS’s signature dirty electro Dubstep style and takes listeners through his own journey of discovering the relationship between technological sounds and live music. Half Android is an all out jam in every sense of the face clenching, lip puckering, head banging dance move way. And no ones looking at you strangely, they’re asking where they can get some.
