After the return of Electro lead to the growth of biggest Raves since the 90’s, and Big Room Progressive put its foot way up in EDM’s money maker it almost seems like there’s nowhere left to go. Dance is nothing new and it only makes sense that some purists who remember the not so crossover days of lore would mine the vaults for something that could sound relevant once again. Acid, one of the original mutations of 80’s Chicago House and staples of the original UK rave scene is bubbling in the LA underground at venues catering to those in the know. Simultaneously, DJ and promotion groups in the Netherlands such as Zodiak Commune, are already well beyond underground status with events that rival crowd numbers and production visuals for LA based HARD’s major Electro/Dubstep events.
With the US’s commercialization of Electro and Progressive it only makes sense that those truly dedicated to EDM would revolt and pursue sub genres not looking to push the next big hit upon us all. Trance and Deep House have never really left so Acid has been seaming new to anyone wanting a movement to attach to. Enter LA and Dutch based label Generation Acid. A collaboration between 3 producers based on both sides of the Ocean who are poised to drop monthly releases to close out the final quarter of 2012 correctly. The first releases are “cocoon” by 0010x0010 and “Irreversible” by United Colors Of Acid. One of the founders, 0010x0010, is the link between the new US revival and the classic days in the Netherlands having helped found Zodiak Commune in the 90’s as well as performed at major events such as Acid Rain at the Graanslio in Amsterdam.
