SHINY TOY GUNS

ROBO COP ELECTRO ROCK

Combining Dance music & Rock & Roll to create the perfect band is something a lot of groups have been fighting to accomplish for the past few years. From Bloc Party to The Rapture to The Ting Tings the underground scene has been flooded with artisans of Electro Rock who have fell short of the mainstreams ear. With the U.K. dominating the genre and Europe being the primary consumers of it, it's amazing that a group originating from Oklahoma has earned respect so easily. Tacks like "Le Disko" landed Shiny Toy Guns a grammy nod for their debut album We Are Pilots, leading up to the recent MTV supported single "Ghost Town" (from the album Season of Poison) and a slot on the All American Rejects '09 tour. Not to mention, the bands roots in Electronic music have granted them a second career as remix producers for big names including DJ Tiesto.

Hipster Overkill got to crash the party on STG's tour bus and talk to founding member Jeremy Dawson (bassist, keyboardist, DJ, producer) about the bands migration from Oklahoma to LA, humble beginnings performing for Rave crowds and making a "Robo Cop" hybrid of Electro & Rock. + download an exclusive Electro DJ set from Jeremy along with their new remake of the 80's classic "Major Tom"
