It’s that time of year again when the worlds Dance / Electronic heavy weights and fans flood the shores of South Beach Miami. Two weeks ago the Winter Music Conference was held while this week the Ultra Music Festival will expand to 3 days and host a sold out crowd for the second year in a row. HipsterOverkill pulled out some unseen footage from the archive for a WMC/Ultra Flash Back interview with Steve Aoki.
2010 saw Steve Aoki crossover with his single “I’m In The House” and drop a number of collaborations with Armand Van Helden, The Bloody Beetroots, and Afrojack to name a few. Music is a given, but at times it seems he doesn’t get respect for his main talent as a taste maker, setting trends in style to shaping the landscape of the indie music scene through his label Dim Mak. In recent years he can be credited for bringing Bloc Party across the pond to gain international fame, taking MSTRKRFT to the next level with their last album Fist Of God, and launching the career of The Bloody Beetroots. In this video interview, Aoki takes the backseat to the limelight and speaks about the roster of artists over at Dim Mak during one of his parties during the 2010 Winter Music Conference.
